Exactly what is this 3D Skills program? The SolidWorks 3D Skills Program is an initiative to give designers and engineers an opportunity to learn three-dimensional computer-aided design (3D CAD) skills. The SolidWorks 3D Skills Program includes a 90-day license for SolidWorks software, the standard in 3D design, along with introductory training. How can I participate? Attend a 3D Skills Seminar hosted by CADimensions. To sign-up for a 3D Skills Seminar, click here. Why would I want to attend the seminar? Many reasons. It is the best way to begin learning about 3D solid modeling design software. If you are already using other software, the seminar will show you what SolidWorks is all about. If you are currently in the market for new employment, it will increase your marketability. You will learn about what companies in your area are already using to design their products. You will receive actual hands-on training. You will not be subjected to hours of sales pitches. What else do I get out of the seminar? A 90 day license of the SolidWorks software. The software is free. There is no cost obligation whatsoever. After 90 days, it just stops working. During that 90 days, you will have full use of fully functional SolidWorks software. Files created on the 90 day version cannot be opened in the commercial version, and watermarks are added to all documents printed from the 90 day version. This makes the 90 day version unsuitable for production purposes. What does CADimensions get out of this deal? Well, obviously, we hope you will decide to buy the software at some point in the future. More to the point, we hope you will buy it from us. At the very least, we hope you will see first hand how fun, exciting, and intuitive the software can be, and how productive you can be when using SolidWorks. We hope you will spread the word about SolidWorks, and help tell others about the benefits of using SolidWorks solid modeling design software. How do I start using the software? The seminar is a half day training session that gets your feet wet. We teach you the basics. Included with the software is an on-line (i.e.- electronic version) Hands-On Quick Start guide, and an on-line SolidWorks Getting Started tutorial. On-line help is also available and quite informative. Installing the software is easy, but we can talk you through it if necessary. You will also need to register the software before you can begin using it. Do I need an internet connection? Yes, for 2 reasons. Registration is done via email. You will need to fill out an on-line registration form, email it to SolidWorks, and they will email you an authorization code. It's all quite easy, actually. Secondly, primary support for the software is done via SolidWorks forums and newsgroup. These are internet forums dedicated to helping SolidWorks users. They can be accessed here. Where can I get more info?
