ULTEM is a high-performance plastic created by SABIC. When it was originally invented, it was named ULTEM as an acronym for “Ultimate Engineering Material”. Today, it comes in many different varieties that can be custom-tailored to the application. ULTEM9085 and ULTEM1010 are offered as 3D printing materials
ULTEM is commonly used in highly demanding environments to replace metal components. It is able to withstand up to 300 degrees Celsius in constant operation. It is often used for end-use aerospace or medical components. In a manufacturing environment, it can be used for high strength jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
WWhen ULTEM is 3D printed, no tooling is needed for an injection molded part. The 3D printing process can conserve material that would otherwise be wasted by machining raw stock material.
We can process parts directly from a SOLIDWORKS or STEP file. Typically parts are accurate to +/-0.008” of the nominal value on a CAD model. Our typical lead time is 5-7 business days, but often much faster for small orders. Our team of engineers has accumulated decades of experience and will work directly with you to make sure the parts are suited for your application.
Fill out our printing request form. Our Application Engineering Team will review your part for printability. If there are any questions or recommendations, our engineers will personally reach out to you.
The team will input selected settings to our print software and send the job to the printer. Parts are then printed on our machines in our Syracuse office “Fablab”. If necessary, the support material is removed by hand or in our wash tanks.
Once the prints are inspected for quality, they are packaged and shipped.

We can process parts from a variety of different file formats (STL, OBJ, IGES, SLDPRT, etc.) We prefer STEP files, since they are easy to open and accurately represent the CAD geometry.
ULTEM can operate continuously in an environment at 392F (200C).
ULTEM is very chemical resistant. It has excellent chemical resistance to petroleum fuels, oils, alcohols, and hydrocarbons like benzene or propane.
In order to have a strong model, the thinnest wall we can recommend would be 0.040” (1mm).
Our process will hold +/-0.2mm (0.008”). If there are any critical features that you would like given special consideration, please not them in the “Additional Comments” box.
Our maximum part size is 16x14x16” (XYZ). However, if you need to build larger parts, the model can be cut into sections and epoxied together.
We have a minimum order value of $75, and orders beyond that are calculated based on the size of the part.

Please fill out the short form below to request a quote. We have a real person review every file that’s submitted to make sure it can be 3D printed. We are happy to offer design advice if you would like it.
Please submit your 3D model as an attachment. If you have multiple files, please submit them in a ZIP folder. We aim to have quotes turned around in less than 24 hours.
