Do you really have to download and install SOLIDWORKS on the old computer just to deactivate the license? But that will take so much time that you don’t have! Well, never fear! SOLIDWORKS has a tool called the Activation Wizard. This useful tool allows you to deactivate licenses on a computer even if SOLIDWORKS isn’t installed. It is really simple to use too!
First, you need to download and install the Activation Wizard using your Customer Portal account. Here is another blog on how to make an account if you don’t have one: How to Create a Customer Portal Account. Once you have logged in, under the Downloads section, select Downloads and Updates.
You will need to select a version to install. This will be the version of SOLIDWORKS that was uninstalled from the old computer. Then select SW Activation Wizard Product.
Once it is installed you can run the program. The Activation Wizard can be found under the Start Menu, All Programs, SOLIDWORKS XXXX, then SOLIDWORKS Tools.
Now to Deactivate! Show activated product license information will show the products that are currently active on the computer. Move your product license(s) to a new/upgraded computer will deactivate your licenses. You will want to select this option, then click Next.
