Due to a recent Microsoft update, you may be receiving the error “The operating system is not configured to run this application” when closing SOLIDWORKS. This occurs when you have the CAM add-in installed, and are active on SOLIDWORKS 2020 SP4. Below is a screenshot of the error. This is caused by Windows quality updates KB4566782 and KB4569745.
We found out this is related to a Microsoft change:
https://docs.microsoft.com/da-dk/office/troubleshoot/access/cannot-use-odbc-or-oledb
The solution is to install the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 for 64-bit.
Download and install the AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255
After this, the error should be gone.
If this is not possible for you to do, you must uninstall SOLIDWORKS CAM. Deactivating the Add-in causes the error to appear before SOLIDWORKS starts and will make the program inaccessible.
If neither solution works, feel free to submit a case and a tech support engineer will reach out to help you through it! https://cadimensions.wpengine.com/technical-support/
