SOLIDWORKS Electrical Tutorials and Resources

One of the most common questions regarding SOLIDWORKS Electrical is “are there any tutorials?” and the answer is YES! Once you have SOLIDWORKS Electrical installed, you will have access to a number of resources directly from the interface, much like SOLIDWORKS 3D.

The tutorial panels can be found by going to HELP and selecting the Tutorial Panel. At the bottom of each tutorial, there is an associated video that you can watch that will step you through the process.

Please note: The videos do not have sound or voice-over, but are provided to show you where options live in the interface.

In addition to the tutorial panel, there is also the Documentation option located on the HELP tab. This button will open up a directory containing a “Getting Started” guide with some helpful pointers on how to use SOLIDWORKS Electrical.

Online Content is another feature that you can access from the HELP tab; clicking this button will bring up your web browser and currently it directs you to three resources:

1. SOLIDWORKS Electrical Portal – Once registered, this portal gives you access to participating manufacturer part catalog downloads.

2. 3DContentCentral – User contributed website that provides access to free 3D and 2D CAD models.

3. My.SolidWorks.com – Access to the SOLIDWORKS Forums, CAD Models, and so much more!

An additional resource that is useful for finding 3D models for electrical design work is tracepartsonline.net.  A number of the models here even contain connection point information that is useful for routing in SOLIDWORKS Electrical!

Of course, in addition to these built in resources, you can also access the Customer Portal to browse the SOLIDWORKS Forums or Knowledge Base for more information regarding SOLIDWORKS Electrical. As always, Google and YouTube are also great resources for finding information.
