Formlabs
Form Studio 1
The Form Studio 1 is Formlabs’ affordable, professional-grade resin 3D printer. It prints most parts in under two hours, with a 200 x 125 x 235 mm build volume and 35 micron XY resolution. The platform is open, so you can run Formlabs resins or third-party resins with no license fee. Printed with Alpha Resins and the VOC Extractor, it is UL GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions.

Applications
The Form Studio 1 is built for engineering teams, design studios, and classrooms that want professional resin parts in house. Formlabs materials load with validated print settings. Sensors monitor resin temperature, resin level, print forces, and leveling during each print, and Formlabs reports a 98% print success rate. An integrated camera lets you check progress from the Form Mobile App.
Jigs, Fixtures, and Fast Iteration
Alpha Fast Resin prints at up to 130 mm per hour. Small components finish in minutes, and a full build volume prints in under two hours. With 46 MPa tensile strength and 34% elongation at break, it works for jigs, fixtures, and tooling as well as quick prototypes.

Prototypes and Fit Checks
Print concept models and form-and-fit prototypes in Alpha Grey, Alpha White, or Alpha Black Resin. Parts come out with fine detail and a matte finish. Material settings are calibrated to hold ±0.15% XY tolerance, which helps assemblies fit as designed.

Detailed Models and Clear Parts
Alpha Model Resin captures fine textures with a fully matte, neutral surface that takes paint well, and thin features flex instead of snapping. Alpha Clear Resin prints transparent enclosures, lighting prototypes, and molds with a surface finish Formlabs compares to acrylic.

Compare Fuse Series Printers
The Fuse X1 Ecosystem
The Fuse X1 doesn’t work alone. Three machines work together to take parts from powder bed to finished surface with minimal manual handling.
Form Studio 1
MSLA resin printer with a 200 x 125 x 235 mm build volume, 35 micron XY resolution, and print speeds up to 130 mm per hour. Runs Formlabs resins or third-party resins with no license fee.
Form Studio Wash+Cure
One compact unit for both steps. Wash mode agitates IPA, TPM, or Resin Washing Solution around your parts. Raise the basket out of the solvent and parts air dry in place. Cure mode uses 405 nm light to bring parts to their final mechanical properties.
VOC Extractor
A compact add-on that lowers VOC levels while the printer runs. Two carbon filters last roughly 330 hours of print time and swap out in seconds. Three fan speeds. It is also compatible with the Form 4.
Print to Finished Part in Five Steps
The Fuse X1 ecosystem is built to keep production moving. Install in an hour, start a print in five minutes, and move parts from build chamber to finished surface with minimal manual handling.
Select a Material
Load a Formlabs resin cartridge. The printer runs print settings that Formlabs validated for that material.
Cure
Remove the light-touch supports by hand, then set the turntable in the Form Studio Wash+Cure and cure. Parts reach their final mechanical properties and are ready to use, sand, coat, or paint.
Insert the cartridge, tank, and build platform. The printer dispenses resin automatically. Start, queue, and track prints remotely from the Form Mobile App or the free Dashboard software.
Wash
Wash parts on or off the build platform in the Form Studio Wash+Cure. A quick flex of the Build Platform Flex releases parts with no scraping. Let parts air dry completely before curing.

Certified Low Emissions for Indoor Workspaces
Formlabs designed the Form Studio 1 and Alpha Resins for shared indoor spaces, and had the results tested against independent standards.
Low VOC Emissions
Alpha Resins printed on the Form Studio 1 with the VOC Extractor are UL GREENGUARD Gold certified. GREENGUARD Gold is an independent standard for low VOC emissions in homes, offices, schools, and other indoor spaces.
Skin-Contact Tested Parts
Alpha Resin parts printed on the Form Studio 1 and post-processed to Formlabs guidelines are certified to ISO 10993 for long-term skin contact of more than 30 days. Printed parts are non-cytotoxic, non-irritating, and non-sensitizing.
Lower Handling Risk
The liquid resin scores as a non-skin irritant under OECD 439, a test standard common in the cosmetics industry. Formlabs still recommends gloves when handling liquid resin. Read the safety data sheet before use.
UL GREENGUARD Gold certification applies only to Alpha Resins printed on the Form Studio 1 with the VOC Extractor.
What is the Formlabs Form Studio 1?
The Form Studio 1 is a professional resin 3D printer from Formlabs. It uses masked stereolithography (MSLA) and has a 200 x 125 x 235 mm build volume, 35 micron XY resolution, and print speeds up to 130 mm per hour.
How fast does the Form Studio 1 print?
Most parts print in under two hours. The average print speed is 40 mm per hour at 100 micron layers. Alpha Fast Resin prints at up to 130 mm per hour.
Can the Form Studio 1 print third-party resins?
Yes. Open Material Mode is included with the printer, with no license fee. Third-party resins require the Form Studio 1 Resin Tank Pro.
What materials does the Form Studio 1 support?
At launch it supports six Alpha Resins (Grey, White, Black, Clear, Model, and Fast), plus Flexible 80A Resin V2, True Cast Resin, and Tough 1500 Resin V2. Alpha Resins are only supported on the Form Studio 1.
Can I use the Form Studio 1 in an office or classroom?
Alpha Resins printed on the Form Studio 1 with the VOC Extractor are UL GREENGUARD Gold certified. That is an independent standard for low VOC emissions in indoor spaces such as offices and schools. The certification applies only to that combination. Formlabs recommends gloves when handling liquid resin.
What is the difference between the Form Studio 1 and the Form 4?
The Form Studio 1 has a taller build volume (235 mm vs. 210 mm), a smaller pixel size (35 microns vs. 50 microns), and Open Material Mode included. The Form 4 has a built-in resin mixer and a wider range of engineering and specialty resins, and it is the better fit for heavy Tough resin workloads.
What do I need to wash and cure parts?
The Form Studio Wash+Cure handles both steps in one unit. It works with IPA, TPM, and Resin Washing Solution, and cures parts with 405 nm light.
Does the Form Studio 1 need an internet connection?
No. The printer runs fully offline. Connecting over Wi-Fi (2.4 or 5 GHz) or Ethernet adds remote print monitoring and the Form Mobile App. Offline users update firmware through PreForm over USB.
Does PreForm open SOLIDWORKS files?
Yes. PreForm accepts SOLIDWORKS part and assembly files (SLDPRT, SLDASM), along with STL, OBJ, 3MF, STEP, PTC Creo, JT, and CATIA V5 files.
What warranty comes with the Form Studio 1?
A one-year warranty is included. Paid service plans and extended warranty options are available.
